Silver Airways will host direct flights from Gainesville to Orlando and Tampa starting in April.
The airline service will start flights on April 15, the company announced Wednesday in a news release.
Gainesville Regional Airport does not currently offer flights to Tampa or Orlando. The airport has flights to and from Miami, Atlanta and Charlotte, N.C.
The company added the extra flights so travelers could get to Gainesville more easily when using Silver Airways to fly across the country or the world, the release stated.
The company is selling $49 one-way tickets for each destination as an introductory sale.
The launch of the new flights coincides with the company’s relocation of its maintenance department to Gainesville.
Silver Airways announced in January that the company would move its maintenance department to Gainesville Regional Airport, a move that is expected to create about 60 jobs.
The move will be finished by April, the release stated.

- Saturday: Departure: 7:20 a.m. Arrival: 8 a.m.

Orlando to Gainesville
- Monday to Friday: Departure: 8:55 p.m. Arrival: 9:35 p.m.

Gainesville to Tampa
- Monday to Friday: Departure: 5:50 a.m. Arrival: 6:30 a.m.

- Saturday: Departure: 8:45 a.m. Arrival: 9:25 a.m.

Tampa to Gainesville
