An internal investigation that began in November ended in written warnings given to three Gainesville police officers for harassing people and throwing eggs.
GPD Officers Brett Robinson, Billy Long and Joshua Hinson drove through the Porter's Neighborhood in Southwest Gainesville near Depot Avenue. They were intending to harass prostitutes and drug dealers, as earlier reported in the Gainesville Sun.
University Police Officer Keith Smith was also involved.
On Nov. 2, while Robinson was driving in the Porter's Neighborhood with his roommate Diego Ibanez and University Police Officer Keith Smith, GPD Officer Charles Owens stopped Robinson's car.
According to the report, when Owens saw Robinson in the car, he told the group to leave the area.
On Nov. 8, Robinson, Ibanez, Smith, and GPD Officer Billy Long drove to downtown bars.
When returning from the bars, Robinson drove the group through the Porter's Neighborhood.
Robinson stopped at intersections and waited for people who were standing on the corner to approach the car, the report stated.
According to the report, when a person walked up, someone in the car would say something to them and Robinson would drive off. The next day, Robinson, Smith, Long and Ibanez met two women at a downtown bar.
When driving home, Robinson directed the person who was driving his truck through Porter's Neighborhood.
The group stopped at different street corners and threw eggs from the bed of the pickup truck, the report stated.
According to the report, Officer Owens saw the truck's covered license plate and pulled it over. When Owens saw who was in the truck, he again told them to leave the area.
No victims or witnesses were found and no property was damaged, according to the report.
