Legendary folk musician Bob Dylan will be performing at the Stephen C. O’Connell Center Oct. 8 at 8 p.m.
Bob Dylan’s current tour finds him frequenting college campuses across the country, beginning at Nova Southeastern University Oct. 6 and ending at the University of Akron in Ohio on Nov. 2.
Student tickets are $22. Tickets for the public will go on sale at 10 a.m. today for $43.
Student tickets can be purchased eight at a time with a Gator 1 ID card.
Identification as a student will not be checked on the night of the concert.
The line of ticket purchasers wrapped around the Reitz Union Colonnade on Monday until the University Box Office closed at 5 p.m.
It took about two hours to get from the union doors to the box office window.
Dylan, who released his first album, “Bob Dylan,” in 1962, was named in Time magazine’s “Time 100: The Most Important People of the Century” for socially conscious music.
“From the very start of his career, Dylan expanded what could be said in a pop song format, getting away from the ‘I love you, you love me,’” said UF rock ‘n’ roll and American society professor Glenn Rickard.
“He’s one of the people whom historians and critics look at as saving rock ‘n’ roll; he expanded the scope of what pop music could be about.”
