UF students added color to their sex lives Wednesday during Pride Awareness Month’s Paint Your Orgasm event on the Reitz Union North Lawn.
Participants painted T-shirts with pictures representing their interpretation of what their orgasms would look like.
More than 300 people stopped by the tables, and the organizers of the event gave out 220 T-shirts, according to the event’s co-directors, Jose Genao and Richard Roberts.
Alicia Gardiner, a UF freshman, attended the event.
“I’m a screamer,” Gardner said, referring to her own reactions. “Therefore, my shirt design is eclectic and colorful.”
According to Genao and Robert, the event, which has been taking place for 10 years, is one of the more popular events during the annual Pride Awareness Month.
“We want people to go to their happy place and truly express themselves,” Roberts said.
The co-directors agreed the main focus was to inform people about safe sex.
“As long as we are human, we orgasm,” Genao said.
As people painted, the Alachua County Health Department provided free HIV testing in the Reitz Union for the first 100 people interested.
Vox: Voices for Planned Parenthood also had a booth set up with nontraditional games including condom races and jeopardy to inform students about safe sex.
Paint Your Orgasm was co-sponsored by Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgendered (LGBT) affairs, the Alachua County Health Department and Vox: Voices for Planned Parenthood.
