The Gainesville community and Gator fans can return to the stadium this spring for the first-ever “Movie in The Swamp.”

The University Athletic Association will host the event at 7:30 p.m. May 9 in Ben Hill Griffin Stadium.

“During the Fall, there are seven Saturdays of football,” said Alicia Longworth, assistant athletics director for UAA marketing and promotions. “We are hoping to have another feel-good moment in The Swamp.”

Fans can vote to see “The Avengers,” “Remember the Titans” or “Little Giants” on GatorZone’s website.

Tickets became available Monday. Admission is free for current UF students with a valid Gator 1 Card  and 2015 football season ticket holders. Tickets will be $10 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under as well as seniors 55 and older.

“We have never done this before, so we hope to have a great crowd,” Longworth said.

The first 500 season ticket holders to arrive can sit on the field, she said. The rest will sit on bleachers and chairs in the stadium.

Leigh Ann Kight, a 20-year-old UF telecommunication sophomore, said she thinks this is a good idea and has heard of other schools doing something similar.

She’ll be voting for “Remember the Titans” because it’s her ultimate favorite. The winning movie will be shown on both the north and south GatorVision boards.

Longworth said the event will be a unique way to enjoy The Swamp.
