A UF student passed away Monday morning from unknown causes.
Stephen C. Speck, 19, of Oviedo died at Shands at UF Monday morning.
Speck’s roommate tried to wake him up in their dorm room at Rawlings Hall and performed CPR when he saw Speck in distress.
University Police and emergency medical services were notified at 8:46 a.m. They arrived three minutes later.
EMS also performed CPR on Speck before they took him to Shands.
He died at 9:26 a.m.
“We are treating this incident, as any unattended death, as a death investigation,” said UPD spokesman Brad Barber. “But at this point we do not have any indication that this was anything other than a medical-related incident.”
